So, lets catch up

I got this awesome job the day after I graduated college, making costumes for this totally awesome haunted attraction called Spookywoods!

we are entering our busy season and my blog has already been pretty inactive and foresee this issue only getting worse. thats why I have decided to cue up a bunch of different Outfit of the Day posts that I’ve had floating around my phone and lap top and what not, as well as posts I find inspirational.

I hope this will fill the gap between now and when I can actually start making things for fun and not just for work again. If you guys aren’t down for this I apologize.

just as my life is going through a transitional phase so is my blog, it will start to lean more towards being a lifestyle blog (which it kind of was anyway) than just tutorials and whatnot.

any whoooooo …hope you guys out there in the tumblrverse are doing well!!

I know I’m not supposed to give stuff away but since its my own costume for the show I decided I didn’t mind :P patterned and built the jacket myself and just finished it yesterday! this Gibson girl meets Beatle Juice look can be seen in the Midway this year at #spookywoods! I’m so thankful to have a job that lets me grow, develop, and learn new skills every day as well as gain confidence and trust in my own abilities :) #costume #costumes #gibsongirl #vintage #oldwest #halloween #hauntedhouse #diy #crafts #fashion #style #clothes #victorian

So sticking with the theme of slightly creepy and thing I can publish from my phone here is a hair bow I made :)
I can make many more just like these as hair clips and bow ties and maybe even on headbands. Let me know if you would be interested! I’m thinks around 10 to 15 dollars a bow. If there is enough buzz ill finally get over my fear and start my etsy shop!

I made this jellyfish felt aplique pillow for my department’s dirty santa game.

I started out by sketching a basic jellyfish then cutting the different pieces out of felt and hand stitching them together.

I then sewed the aplique onto black fabric, stuffed it, and tada!

I was very flattered that my pillow got stolen multiple times and in the end my Professor Perry Morgan got to take it home! :)

the other weekend we had an Anything But Clothes party, which to the rest of the world probably means one thing but to a bunch of theater kids it means showing off our creativity and innovation any way we can!

last year I was lame and didn’t make an outfit for the ABC party because I knew I couldn’t outdo the year before (click here to see) but this year I finally had another stroke of genius.

I cut up a large t-shirt (which is technically clothes) into a short halter dress then I spent 3hrs sewing on paper plates that I had cut into sections. I am really pleased with the outcome and it was a big hit at the party!

I added some paper plate details in my hair and some crazy false lashes and… ta-da!

everyone really went all out, I was so proud of our departments commitment and creativity, they never cease to amaze me :)

Sorry I haven’t been posting lately but I’ve been moving! (back into my dorm) and this year I have this really awesome couch but it didn’t exactly fit the rest of my decor

So I painted this curtain based on the flowers on the couch and the colors that are already in my room. Now I am not an expert on painting or on flora but I think I can live with this

Not Mom Shorts

here are my completed thrift store shorts!

I cut them to the desired length, frayed the edges, and I had to take the side seams in a bit to make them fit just right

I added a beaded detail up the side because I couldn’t find studs :( and I cut some slits along the pocket to rough them up a bit

lastly I added a Yin Yang side to the back pocket :)

and for reference here is what the shorts looked like before I started
