Another semester and Another themed party! this one was “Mary Kate and Ashley through the years” my friend Joey and I went as the twins in their NYU days.

I wore a navy and zebra floor length dress I got at Carolina Thrift for 5 bucks. It was a little big so I took it in under the arms and raised the waist line. I added the sunglasses, head wrap, scarf and sweater to make it a little more “Mary Kate”

I definitely plan on wearing this dress for multiple other occasions!

Hello all, I am trying to get back in the swing of posting again.
I snapped a quick pic in the rehearsal studio yesterday. Sweater was thrifted and the jumper under was made by me.
my hair currently is a mix of Rockabilly Blue and Hot Hot Pink.  So speaking of my hair I have gone on a shampoo hiatus. lately my hair has been really flat and stringy and uncooperative in just about every way.  I noticed it gets even worse when it is newly washed so i stopped washing my hair. I still shower and condition and all that but since I have stopped shampooing my hair, it has had much more body. I haven’t had problems with fly-aways and it actually has natural bounce and movement to it while suprisingly remaining smooth without being greasy
If you haven’t tried not washing your hair, I suggest you do it haha (if anything it saves you on shampoo)

My Dorm Tour 2012

So first we have the couch, which you have already seen, the green curtain to the right leads into the bathroom/sink area and on that same wall I have my kithen stuff i.e. refrigerator, microwave, food…

Daniel was watching Football at the time so I hope the NFL doesn’t come after me for illegal use of their images or something like that. I made a “microwave cover” out of some scrap fabric I had because I couldn’t stand to look at it.

The wall adjacent has my bookshelf (organized: Play’s and other Theatre related literature, non fiction, and fiction) and my television. I made the wall art myself. The ones above the microwave and refrigerator can be found here

the orange wall art is actually one of the first tutorials I ever posted and you can find it here if you want to make your own .

The chair and the desk were both make over items and the cork board was about three dollars plus the price of some ribbon I had.

the desk backs up to the bed which has storage above and below. Yes that is a Star Wars pillow. No, it doesn’t match, but it’s Star Wars

more of my bedroom, I hate you can’t see the lady bug light above my bed in any of these shots :(

one of my armoires divides the bedroom and living room. It is also where I have my Harry Potter tribute wall. All these were colored by my friends and Myself (I did the Harry at the top and the Sirius Black) from my 275 page Harry Potter coloring book. It is a work in progress

on the other side of the armoire and across from my bed I have my full length mirror and my thrifted and repurposed jewelry rack

anyway thats my room! hope this found you inspired :)

Not Mom Shorts

here are my completed thrift store shorts!

I cut them to the desired length, frayed the edges, and I had to take the side seams in a bit to make them fit just right

I added a beaded detail up the side because I couldn’t find studs :( and I cut some slits along the pocket to rough them up a bit

lastly I added a Yin Yang side to the back pocket :)

and for reference here is what the shorts looked like before I started

This weekend I went shopping at Carolina Thrift here in Greensboro and I bought 3 new sweaters for the coming season. I think the most expensive was 2.99 or something like that.

the first purple sweater, just to give you some style options, I paired with a balck mini skirt and a leather jaket

the 2nd sweater is big and cozy so I paired it with some leggings and brown boots

I bought the 3rd sweater because I absolutely love the bright fun colors. this one I kept casual and wore it with just some denim shorts and cute grey boots

I hope this inspires you to do something thrifting of your own!

(and I apologize for the poor lighting in my room and lack of excellent quality from my webcam but I figured you guys were getting sick of seeing me looking at myself in the mirror haha)
